Who We Are
Since 1971, the California Police Activities League (California PAL) has had the privilege of serving nearly half a million youth and their families throughout California. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization working to foster positive relationships and build bonds between youth and police officers. Read our history here.
A membership-based organization, California PAL provides mentorship, athletic, recreational, enrichment and educational opportunities and resources to Police Activities League (PAL), Sheriff Activities League (SAL) and Youth Activities League (YAL) member chapters in California.

A message from the executive director
We are proud to have been a vital part of the California community over the past 50 years and are excited for what the next decade will bring! Much of our focus in 2024 has been on fund development to sustain core operations necessary to support, maintain and grow California PAL services.
We are courting new strategic collaborations and forging stronger alliances to build our Workforce Development, College and Career Preparedness, Leadership Development, Violence Prevention and Athletic programs and events. We are pleased to introduce our College and Career Preparedness Collaborative Model collaborators and experts — Educate California, AKALA, LiUNA, and Be A Mentor whose year-long services following the LAHS Conference will help us continue to shape and strengthen PAL students’ ability to succeed.
We have a youth Workforce Development collaboration with LiUNA to create the California PAL Youth Pre-Apprenticeship Readiness Model. This innovative model know as the California PAL YARA program bridges education and workforce gaps providing a pathway to the construction trades’ apprenticeship programs. The goal is to impact economic and racial equality by closing the wealth gap and creating pathways to living wage jobs.
We are excited to collaborate with the Beau Biden Foundation! The Foundation will provide training to California PAL this year and work to secure funding for our members. Their Shield of Protection program helps ensure youth-serving organizations have the best policies, procedures, and programming to help protect children from abuse and neglect.
California PAL will provide training for our PAL/SAL officers at our Annual Members Training Conference . This training is a Universal Community Policing approach to forge community bonds, upholding California PAL’s mission to Build the Bonds Between Officers and Youth by building stronger, safer communities based on mutual empathy and understanding.
Portions of your donation will help support California PAL college/career and workforce development programs to promote the success of our youth and violence prevention programs to protect our youth. In addition, we are engaging public/private organizations and agencies to solicit cost-effective services, as well as in-kind and cash funding sources.
