CALIFORNIA PAL MEMBERSHIP

One of California PAL’s missions is to assist our member chapters located throughout the state.  Our chapters extend from Etna PAL in the far north to the southern border with El Centro PAL and Imperial County SAL.  We serve both rural and urban based counties and communities.  With such a wide diversity of youth throughout the state, California PAL ties them all together into one cohesive membership organization that provides enriching athletic, academic and leadership programs for ALL of California’s kids.

While each PAL/SAL or YAL chapter is completely autonomous, with some conducting a wide variety of programs and others focusing on fewer needs within the community, the common thing that all chapters have is the law enforcement involvement.  Each one of our chapters is required to have the full support of the local Chief of Police or County Sheriff and many of these PAL chapters have sworn law enforcement officers or deputies conducting programs.  No other youth program puts together “Cops and Kids” in a safe and supervised environment.

California PAL Member Chapters

Our many PAL/SAL/YAL  chapters are as diverse as the youth who attend, mirroring California’s multi-racial and multi-ethnic population.  Since many of our PAL/SAL chapters “go where no other youth program goes”, the majority of the kids that are served live in households whose collective annual gross income is less than $35,000 dollars.  Because of these families limited financial resources, California PAL encourages and enables youth participation by removing those financial barriers by underwriting the cost associated with California PAL programs.

If you are a parent or guardian and would like to get your child involved with a local PAL/SAL/YAL program, the first step would be to find out where the nearest chapter is located.  Check out our PAL Chapter Location map to find the nearest chapter to your location and you can also check out the PAL/SAL Chapters tab for a comprehensive list of our chapter members including a link to their websites which will contain their contact information.

If your community does not have a PAL or SAL program, talk with other like minded parents and advocate for the program at your local police departments or city council meetings.  California PAL is always ready to assist new PAL chapters with getting established within the community!
