INNOVATIONS IN POLICING

A key focus of our community policing activities is the California PAL Innovations in Policing program — a collective of law enforcement professionals and leaders dedicated to expanding positive youth and law enforcement engagement and creating channels of communication that lead to healthy communities. The program integrates a collaborative and interactive learning experience with a training model that focuses on healing community divisions, de-escalating tension and avoiding violence.

Our Innovations In Policing workshops offer solutions that address the role societal bias plays in creating community division and escalation by helping participants cultivate mutual empathy.

Innovations in Policing Workshops

The Innovations In Policing workshop is a POST Certified unique training bringing youth and officers together in a safe space to have tough conversations about the relationship between implicit bias, cultural diversity, and potential escalation.

Combining the Police Engagement Program® (PEP) techniques with an open discussion provides a creative Universal Community Policing approach to forge community bonds, upholding our mission to Build the Bonds Between Officers and Youth.

What We Address

This California PAL workshop uses a multi-disciplinary approach led by Stratford PAL and Stratford Police Department, and by Social Centric Institute.  The workshop introduces diversity concepts and the role they play in healing community division and conflict, and how split-second decisions can lead to an escalation or de-escalation of force.
